Just in time for Halloween, a new survey has been released, and the DMV region is home to some of the country's "spookiest streets."
A survey of 3,000 drivers conducted by Volkswagen determined which area roadways are ready for the holidays, headlined by Route 9 in Sleepy Hollow, a New York destination.
Others at the top of the list include Old Ghost Road in Georgia, Superstition Mountains Apache Trail in Arizona, the Haunted Highway in Louisiana and Dead Man's Curve in Cleveland.
In Maryland and Virginia, these (aptly named) streets made the list:
- Route 666 in Chesapeake (14th overall);
- Crawford Road in Yorktown (25th);
- Crybaby Bridge in Prince George's County (67th);
- Dead Man's Curve in Hagerstown (69th);
- Spooks Hill in Burkittsville (78th);
- Elbow Road (118th).
Other notable roads to make the list include Bloody Bucket Road in Florida, Spook Road in South Dakota, Crazy Annie's Bridge in Minnesota, Knock-Knock Road in Detroit, Devil's Promenade in Kansas, and Dead Woman's Crossing in Oklahoma.
A complete list of curiously named "spooky streets" can be found here.
